Our Plastic Capuchin Monkey Toy or Replica This engaging-looking plastic capuchin monkey replica is made of solid plastic and stands on a base. It is 2 1/4 inches tall. The thin parts including the branch are flexible. The color is somewhat imaginative, but has distinctive highlights. Our capuchin monkey miniature has a concerned expression but promises not to bite. Capuchin monkeys are New World monkeys found in Central and South America. Capuchin monkeys were discovered by Spanish explorers in the15th century and, because their faces appeared to be hooded, they reminded the explorers of the hooded Capuchin friars, an offshoot of Franciscian monks. New World monkeys like the capuchin have noses that are flatter than the narrow noses of the Old World monkeys, and have side-facing nostrils. They also have prehensile tails.
