Giraffes (Giraffa camelopardalis) are the biggest ruminant and the tallest mammal. They have very long necks with a short, upstanding mane. Their high shoulders slope steeply to their hindquarters. The head tapers to a point and they have a long, prehensile tongue. Their horns are solid bone and skin covered. Tails are hocklength, with a long tassel.
