Product Description
Use our GIANT SQUID (KRAKEN) mythological toy miniature for cupcake decorations, party favors, a fun toy or in displays.
Our Kraken (Giant Squid or Octopus) Cryptozoology Replica This strange replica of a giant squid is called the Kraken, a huge cephalopod, first described in Iceandic and Norse mythology. Our plastic model is 2 3/4 inches long, red-pink in color, and is shown clinging to the prow of a sailing ship. Stories abound of sailors seeing a monstrous tentacled and often clawed animal, that could submerge a ship by creating a whirlpool when it dove, but no actual documented accounts seem to exist. According to lore, the Kraken was a peaceful bottom-dwelling squid which fed on small fish that gathered around it. Fishermen, who managed to have great catches, often bragged that they had fished over a kraken. Giant squid exist, but none are even remotely the enormous size of the Kraken, which has been immortalized in stories like Moby Dick and, most importantly, in Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. This replica may be useful as a decoration, display item to help illustrate one of these stories or an old legend, or as a gag. We think he's kinda cute and might be a fun toy or keepsake. Look at its face - the Kraken has character! See all of our other cryptozoological animals and our huge selection of octopuses and squid. Just take a look at Wikipedia's image gallery to see many of the ways the Kraken has been illustrated.
