Product Description
Our small plastic megatherium toy is a beautiful little replica for any fan of Ice Age animals. The fine details may make it look bigger in the photo than it really is, but this miniature extinct giant ground sloth replica is just the right size for your prehistoric life or Ice Age shoebox diorama. Our megatherium model will fit in a shoe box along with other examples of extinct animals from the Earth's past. Add a few rocks, plants, grass, make a river or stream from anything that strikes your imagination, and there you go - a scene of life on our planet as it might have been many thousands of years ago. Our plastic toy Pleistocene mammal is painted to look the way paleontologists imagine the animal looked in real life, although of course nobody really knows.
Megatherium was a genus of elephant-sized ground sloths endemic to South America, sometimes called the giant ground sloth, that lived from the Early Pliocene through the end of the Pleistocene. Among land mammals, its size was exceeded by only a few other species, including mammoths and the much older Paraceratherium.
