Product Description
Our Plastic Pelican The pelican is one of a series of lively and lifelike plastic birds. The base plastic is white, and the colors are applied with paint. The birds are small and light-weight. We measure the size from wing-tip to wing-tip. If the color looks pink here, it must be the lighting. This plastic animal is mostly tan and yellowish with black on the wings, lower back and feet.
The large pouches under their beaks make very handy fishing nets. Pelicans take large gulps of fish-laden water, drain the liquid, then swallow the fish. Since the draining process can be a bit time-consuming, other birds will often take advantage and try to steal the pelicans' meals. Brazen seagulls will sometimes even perch on a pelican's head and steal fish right out of its mouth. How rude. Due to habitat destruction, overfishing, water pollution, and hunting and culling by humans, many pelican populations are suffering.
