Product Description
Our Plastic Thorny Devil (Thorny Dragon) Australian Lizard Unfortunately we have to tell you that this thorny devil plastic lizard is not quite as realistically true to its species as we would like. However, it's a very cool, soft and squeezable, squeaky, hollow plastic lizard and it has beautiful yellow and brown coloring. It's close enough to the real thing that you could use it in an Australian diorama for a school project, but for the collector of totally realistic plastic animals, you may want to compare it with photos of the real lizards online and see what you think. As a toy, this colorful lizard is very popular. Its spines may look fierce, but they aren't sharp, and it has a very friendly looking lizard-like or dragon-like face with small horns and dark eyes. Be sure to see our other Australian animals as well as all of our lizards and other reptiles. We also have a selection of plastic animals that squeak when you squeeze them. So, you see? This beautiful lizard is useful in many ways. This Australian thorny devil plastic lizard is beautifully colored, and it squeaks when you squeeze it. Fun for the tub, the playroom, or an outback diorama.
This delightful little creature is the thorny devil or moloch, names which sit uneasily with its placid nature. The spines that decorate its body are impressive and provide the lizard with a strong defence, but itÂ’s what lies between the spines thatÂ’s really interesting. The thorny devilÂ’s flanks are lined with grooves that are narrow enough to channel water by capillary action. The grooves end in the creatureÂ’s mouth, so the thorny devil can drink simply by standing in a puddle or waiting for the morning dew to condense on its numerous spines.
