The babies of the largest cat in the world are born essentially defenseless as they are blind and pretty much helpless. After at least a week and sometimes up to two weeks old the tiger cubs finally open their eyes to the world around them. Usually they weigh anywhere a pound and half to just over three pounds at birth. Usually there about three cubs in the litter though there can be as few as one baby or as many as six. It does not take long before one cub takes the lead in play and is more active than the other cubs. That cub is usually male and will be the first to leave home.
