Product Description
Our Ichthyosaurus model is 3 3/4 inches long. It is made of hard, sturdy plastic, painted yellowish green and pink-white with a firm beak-like mouth and a fluted tail. We think this item fits well in displays about extinct sea creatures or dioramas about ancient sea life. It is a good educational toy and also a fun decoration. See our other extinct sea life models as well as Triassic Period animals and extinct reptiles to add characters to your scene.
Ichthyosaurus is a genus of ichthyosaurs from the late Triassic and early Jurassic. Ichthyosaurus ear bones were solid, probably transferring water vibrations to the inner ear. Still, hunting by sight was the creature's main feeding activity; it had huge, sensitive eyes, protected by bony shields. Coprolites of Ichthyosaurus reveal that its diet consisted of fish and squid.
